Indigo Magazine Website

Project Overview:

Indigo Magazine is a student-led, online publication at UT Dallas, focused on all things cultural, political, social, and artistic.

I started a creative magazine at my school for all the misfits at the “MIT of the South”. The magazine needed a website that would showcase the incredible art of UT Dallas students. I designed it! The main goal was to create a website students can easily navigate and allow room for lots of visual imagery and readability.

This is an ongoing project.

Ideation:

1.
Accessibility

One of our founding principles as a magazine is to create content for students of all backgrounds and this includes people with determination. I utilized high contrast, image descriptions, and principles of information architecture to advocate for this.

2. Malleability

I wanted to create a simple layout where the main focus would be the imagery and the articles that could be easily uploaded and did not look out of place. This layout would allow for it to be changed as needed for our different issues.

3. Fun!

What is a creative magazine without fun? I used fun colors throughout the website to fit with the branding of Indigo Magazine as a fun, trendy magazine.

Wireframing:

I prioritized creating wireframes that had room for accessibility, creativity, malleability, and fun.
